Our Recommendation For The Best Uniform Fabrics

PTSansan.co.id – Unlike t-shirts or shirts in general, in choosing fabrics for uniforms, you have to consider certain features and characteristics. This is because workplace intensity usually requires a stronger fabric durability. Are you looking for references on some of the most commonly used fabrics for  uniform purpose? Look no more. We have several recommendations for the best uniform fabrics that can best suit your needs.

  • Twill

One of the best uniform fabrics is twill fabric with a diagonal pattern on its surface. The texture of twill fabric tends to be stiff, thick, and dense, which makes it easier to conform to shapes. Despite that, when it’s worn as a uniform, this fabric will somehow feel soft and cool. Twill also has a high degree of flexibility when under pressure. Due to its strong and durable features, this fabric is perfect for field uniforms and jackets. Jeans and polo shirts usually use twill fabric as well.

Twill fabric commonly consists of several types, such as Natural Twill, Synthetic Twill, Broken Twill, and others, with the most common types of weaving being 2/1 and 3/1 twill. The difference between the two weaving methods can be seen from the texture and angle of inclination. The 3/1 twill somehow looks more tangled than the 2/1 twill weaving.

  • Drill

Similar to twill fabric, drill fabric is also spun with a diagonal pattern. Although at first glance they look similar, drill fabric is quite different from twill. The composition of drill fabric is usually a mixture of cotton and polyester with a strong, thick design, and a tighter and sturdier fabric. This makes the fabric feel soft yet strong, resistant to wrinkles, and fade proof.

Drill fabric is generally categorized into three types, namely Twill Drill (small fiber), American Drill (medium fiber), and Japan Drill and Nagata Drill (large fiber). All three have their own strength. Twill Drill, for example, has waterproof features which makes it suitable for outdoor activities. Meanwhile, the texture of American Drill fabric is known to be softer, while Japan Drill is generally stronger and thicker due to having more cotton in its composition. There is also Nagata Drill which is perfect for both indoor and outdoor office uniforms.

  • Ripstop

Literally meaning to prevent tearing of the fabric, ripstop is a type of fabric that is highly recommended for safety clothes. Having a plaid pattern, ripstop fabric can generally be found on army shirts and bags. The use of this material is inseparable from its advantages, with various designs to choose.

Ripstop fabric has a unique strength for outdoor use, with a composition of cotton, polyester, nylon, and polypropylene in it. What distinguishes it from other types of fabric is perhaps its weaving. The weaving technique of ripstop can produce excellent fabric density and various line patterns, ranging from hexagons, diamonds or squares, to other patterns. This results in a stronger woven fabric, yet light and soft.

  • Tropical

Tropical fabric is also one of the best uniform fabrics to choose. This fabric is made from a mixture of cotton and polyester with a larger cotton ratio, so it will feel cooler when used. This type of fabric consists of fibers that make the material smoother inside and out with a dotted pattern. Tropical fabrics also have a good quality and strength where the dimensions are relatively stable at every fold.

When compared to drill fabric, it is true that tropical fabric tends to be less dense. Regardless of that, it remains flexible and does not wrinkle easily. Why? It’s because tropical fabric is made with a non-coarse weave. As a result, tropical fabrics are more flexible, fade proof, durable, and neat to look at.
